Brought into the Experience and Enjoyment of the Lord Jesus
I am a married sister in the Lord, with three grown children. I have been a Christian for 29 years, and have met with the church in Seattle for nearly 27 years. In the first two years of my Christian life, I was very hungry for the Lord and for the church. I met with a small charismatic group, where I had experiences of singing in the spirit and speaking in tongues. Although these experiences were very precious to me, I eventually realized that they did not build up the church and they did not bring the desired growth and maturity in my personal spiritual life. I saw many divisions, even among the small group of believers with whom I met. Eventually, I cried out, “Lord, where are people who really live the Christian life?”
Shortly after that prayer, we received a job offer in Seattle. I strongly felt that this was the Lord's leading, and came to this city expecting to be brought into a new, higher experience of the Lord. I visited different groups, but there was never the inward registration that I was home. Then, I was invited to a meeting of the church in Seattle. Within moments of entering the room, my spirit within me witnessed that this was the place to which the Lord had brought me. As I came to know the believers meeting there, I saw that these were people who lived their Christian life all day long, every day. Christ and the church were the number one priority in their lives. This was the living I had hungered for!
I immediately began to study and enjoy the Bible in a fresh and new way under the ministry of Witness Lee. I found that this dear servant of the Lord was able to open the Bible to me as it had never been opened before. The result of reading or listening to one of his messages was always that I was drawn more to the Bible and to love my dear Lord Jesus. Witness Lee helped me to learn to touch, experience, and enjoy my Lord all day long. The Lord Jesus became to me not merely a divine person who died for me 2000 years ago and who would one day return for me, but a living, wonderful, present, real person whom I could commune and fellowship with at any time, in any situation. The Bible became not merely a book of truth, teaching, and doctrine, but a book of life, flowing with living water, and a means to touch and enjoy my Lord as I never had before.
After 27 years of enjoying the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, the Bible and the Lord Jesus are fresher, more real, more present, and more precious that ever before. I am truly grateful to the Lord that He led me to this ministry and to the dear precious Christians meeting as the church in Seattle. I cannot imagine that I could ever have attained my current experience and enjoyment of the Lord without having spent the time I have in the ministry of these two dear brothers in the Lord.
